  • Goal- Further reduce the global & local leprosy burden
  • Main targets- Zero G2D (Grade 2 disability) among paediatric leprosy patients
  • Reduction of new leprosy cases with G2D to less than one case per million population
  • Zero countries with legislation allowing discrimination on basis of leprosy

Leprosy Elimination is defined as reducing the prevalence of registered cases to less than 1 /10,000 population

  • Sikkim achieved Elimination in 2003 with 53 registered cases with Prevalence Rate of 0.7/10,000 population
  • This trend in Sikkim has continued till now with a current P.R of 0.11/10,000 population

Leprosy is eliminated as a public health problem but it is not ERADICATED
